Rock Alum
A colourless, odourless stone found in nature. Today it is also known as Rock Alum or Rock Stone. Since ancient times, this stone has been appreciated as a natural antibacterial and hypoallergenic deodorant.
Human sweat is originally odourless, but it is an excellent breeding ground for bacteria, which are responsible for the so-called 'sweat smell'.
Potassium alum, on the other hand, acts on the cause of the odour, namely the intense bacterial proliferation that occurs when sweating. The saline component of this stone counteracts the acids that can form, inhibiting the reproduction of the bacteria responsible for the bad smell, while leaving the body's sweating active.
It is therefore considered suitable for those with allergies to synthetic fragrances. Potassium alum does not cover up bad odours, but it acts by stemming the proliferation of the bacteria that cause them.
It does not leave halos on clothes. It is sometimes used for rapid healing of cuts caused on the skin by shaving, in cases of haemorrhoids or bleeding gums. It is also used to relieve itching caused by insect bites and to make cold sores and boils heal more quickly.
